Who’s Eric Francis you are asking?
"Eric Francis has been (and still is) a Calgary Sun sports columnist since 1994, covering everything from the Flames and Stampeders to the British Open, Super Bowl and Olympics."
What’s a “Twitter-view”? When you don’t live in Calgary and do not have any contacts in the NHL circle, one has to rely on opportunities presented by Twitter to interview someone in the media. Twitter presented me with that opportunity today with columnist Eric Francis.
The Twitter account of KidSport Calgary hosted Eric Francis in a 2 hour open conversation about the Calgary Flames. The Flame For Thought Twitter account submitted 5 questions and received 5 answers.
1. If you were to trade a veteran to make room for one of the prospects, who would it be?
Glencross is one of the few who would net much return. His contract is up this spring so he’s most likely candidate. If you could find anyone to take Wideman’s contract off your hands you’d jump at it.
2. Does Sam Bennett play a 10th game for the Flames this season?
I doubt it. Management wasn’t planning to keep him around and he hasn’t had chance to change their mind yet.
3. If only one of Sven Baertschi or Michael Ferland can be in the lineup on October 8, who’s your pick?
Baertschi. Ferland does it all but missed huge chunk of last season and could use AHL action before early call up.
4. Do the Calgary Flames finish ahead of the Edmonton Oilers and/or Arizona Coyotes in the Pacific division?
Flames will not finish ahead of Edm or Arizona but will be closer to the latter.
5. Which Calgary Flames summer acquisition will get the most points – Mason Raymond or Devin Setoguchi?
Raymond by a longshot. Setoguchi isn’t even guaranteed to make the team despite a one-way contract.
I wrote out the question and answer period about our Calgary Flames. As a small thank you to Mr. Francis and KidSport Calgary, I will embed the tweets answering the question as to how to support the organization.
