I know who I want to meet in the playoffs.

Hallowe’en served up a treat for Calgary Flames fans as they left the Saddledome celebrating a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.  The second time this season our Flames have beat the Predators.

Being a father of two I missed the game but the game notes from ESPN provide some cool points:

TJ Brodie‘s four goals match his career high. … The game marked the NHL debut of Flames LW Michael Ferland and the season debut for Markus Granlund. … Ferland (upper body) left late in the second and did not return after a hit by Anton Volchenkov.

Anton Volchenkov will have a meeting this  Saturday afternoon the NHL Player Safety Department concerning his elbow to the head of Ferland.

BEST MOVE OF THE MONTH

Is it too early to pat Calgary Flames Coach Bob Hartley on the back for correctly benching Johnny Gaudreau for the one game?

  • Before Johnny Hockey’s benching – – 0 points, 1 shots on goal.
  • After Johnny Hockey’s benching – –  2 goals 4 assists 15 shots on goal.

MOST CONFUSING MOVE OF THE MONTH

I want to see Josh Jooris back in the lineup.  Still not sure how he went from 12:56 minimum time played in his first games to not cracking 10 minutes his last two games before being benched.  Is he “Mikael Backlund” hurt?  You kow, healthy enough to play but not to his standard?  Is the benching a “Johnny Gaudreau-esqe” take a step back type thing?  After gushing about Mr. Jooris to the folks of MontrealHockeyTalk.com (about the 26 minute mark), I want to be proven correct.

SURPRISE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Dennis freakin Wideman.  A 4 game goal streak and 5 goals on the season.  All after looking so bad in the season opener that he was a healthy scratch for game 2 of the season.  Wideman’s defensive shortcoming’s are much more tolerable when he is stuffing the opponent’s net.
