Sean Monahan OT Winner, Calgary Flames On 3 Game Win Streak

Nov 4, 2014; Washington, DC, USA; Calgary Flames center Sean Monahan (23) scores the game-winning goal on Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby (70) as Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin (8) defends in overtime at Verizon Center. A goal a period, especially the fourth period, keeps winning streaks alive!  That, and an amazing save by Jonas Hiller with 1.1 seconds remaining!

Sean Monahan scored the overtime winner with 43 seconds remaining sending our Calgary Flames off to their hotels happy with a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals.

RANDOM OBSERVATIONS

With other commitments, I wasn’t able to turn on the game until minutes before the Calgary Flames tied the score at 3 in the third period.  With Johnny Gaudreau reported to be fighting the flu, the Twitter account for Flame For Thought credited him with the game tying goal.  The pass was intended for him after all!

Lance Bouma opened the scoring at the 9:09 mark of the opening period.  An almost spot on guess was made in the First Goal Contest leading into the game for the time of the first goal.

Sven Baertschi played a team low 7:29.  Even Brandon Bollig played more than Sven.  I will post my initial reaction to Baertschi getting the recall. I will follow it up saying I felt like the move was forced and is proving to be a square peg in a round hole type of situation.  I don’t know why Mr. Baertschi is a square peg but I do feel a “fresh start” somewhere else is what’s best for him.  Maybe not necessarily the Flames, but for him!

With Sean Monahan scoring the overtime winner assisted by Josh Jooris, may I be the first to coin the duo – – > MoJo!  Click the retweet or favourite button in the tweet below if you agree!

Lastly, I leave you a tweet that was tweeted at Flame For Thought in good fun and is shared with you in good fun!
