Revisiting Preseason Pacific Division Predictions

Way back on September 26th, myself plus five other FanSided employees got together to predict how the Pacific Division would shake itself out during the 2014-15 season.

Naturally, only the Flame For Thought staff members predicted anything but last for our Calgary Flames.

Current Pacific Division standings:

  1. Vancouver
  2. Anaheim
  3. Calgary
  4. Los Angeles
  5. San Jose
  6. Arizona
  7. Edmonton

Do I figure these are what the standings will look like at the end of November?  Possibly how they look at the end of the season? NOPE!

Predicting a non-California team to win the Pacific Division is akin to believing the Easter Bunny helps Santa deliver Christmas presents.

There is also a pit in my stomach that refuses to allow me to believe the Vancouver Canucks can stay atop of the division.  I’d even let the Edmonton Oilers out of the cellar as a compromise to get the Vancouver Canucks out of top spot in the division.

Just for some added fun here are some links to other preseason predictions from other sites – – NHL.com, The Hockey News, The Victoria News.  I put the last one in there because of the other’s admitted despise of our beloved Flames.
