Calgary Flames, 7 Game Losing Streak, Feeling Angry

If you feel so empty
So used up, so let down
If you feel so angry
So ripped off so stepped on
You’re not the only one
Refusing to back down
You’re not the only one
So get up

Let’s start a riot, a riot
Let’s start a riot
Let’s start a riot, a riot
Let’s start a riot

The above words are from a song by Three Days Grace which sum up how I feel.  It’s game day morning, we have all endured seven straight losses, this sucks.

Of course, the word “riot” is associated to any Calgary Flames game versus the Vancouver Canucks after last season’s line brawl.

With the very recent contract extension signed by Coach Hartley, our Flames 7-game losing streak has drawn more than it’s fair share of “outside the bubble” comments.  The most recent comment trying to act like a pin to our bubble comes from FanSided’s very own Too Many Men On The Site.  The writer includes the preface, “I don’t have much firsthand experience watching the Flames“.  I know generalizations when writing are bad but I’m willing generalize most of the non-Alberta media jumping on the poke fun at Calgary bandwagon should preface their work with that same line.

YOU KNOW WHAT’S LOST IN ALL THIS?

The Vancouver Canucks are also on a five game losing streak which translates to our Calgary Flames only being two points behind.  Furthermore, our Calgary Flames are only two points behind the Los Angeles Kings (whom we play twice before the end of December).

All is not lost from the incredible start our Flames had, far from it!!  Neither the Kings or the Canucks have been at the top of their game recently and 2 of the 3 games after Christmas and before New Years are against the Edmonton Oilers.  The same Oilers we have already beaten 5-2 this season.  The same Oilers who still sit 16 points behind us in the standings.

It all starts with one win to the get the snowball rolling in the right direction.  Please Calgary, for the sake of my ever-growing bald spot, start the winning streak tonight versus Vancouver!
