The Calgary Flames lost 4-1 to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday evening. They also lost a few streaks in the process.

The Calgary Flames have now lost three of their last four games. They lost 4-1 to the San Jose Sharks on Friday evening in an ugly loss. Normally, I don’t like to say that. I generally like to say that it was still a solid effort and that the Flames had a lot of push-back. But unfortunately, this wasn’t the case tonight.

The Sharks completely outplayed them. They out-shot, out-blocked, and of course, out-scored the Flames. I mean hey, at least the Flames didn’t get shutout, right? Some positives. Thanks Sam Bennett.

After the first period, the score was 0-0, but then the second period came and I’m pretty sure I was in tears after that period. That’s where all four of the Sharks goals came.

The Flames also lost some streaks tonight. First, they lost their power-play streak. They had gone eight straight games with at least a power play goal in each game. In that eight-game stretch, they had 13 pp goals. But unfortunately, they couldn’t capitalize on their one power-play opportunity. I mean, give credit to the Sharks for staying disciplined this game. If the Flames had a couple extra PP opportunities, they maybe could have kept that streak alive.

They were, however, perfect on the penalty kill tonight. They killed off all five penalties. And the Sharks have a fantastic home PP stat. Before this game, it was at 25.5% on home ice which is the fourth best in the league. They’re also one of the best teams on home ice in general, so I sort of figured that this game wouldn’t be the best for the Flames.

Another streak they lost was Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau‘s point streaks. Monahan’s ten-game point streak and Gaudreau’s eight-game point streak came to an end tonight.

The Flames great road record also took a turn tonight. They were the first team in the western conference to reach ten road wins and just the third team to do so in the league. Their last loss in regulation on the road came over a month ago on November 17th. And unfortunately, it happened again tonight.

Among other losses, it looks like my Flames onesie is no longer good luck anymore.
