The Calgary Flames managed to come back from their ugly 5-0 shutout loss two nights ago. They topped the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 with the help of Brian Elliott.

After being shutout 5-0 two nights ago by the Arizona Coyotes, the Calgary Flames managed to redeem themselves. They won 3-1 over the Philadelphia Flyers and a big factor for this was Brian Elliott.

Elliott this game made 33 saves and allowed just one goal on 34 shots. That one goal was because of a bad turnover in the Flames own end from their defence (I won’t even tell you who it was. You should be able to guess who by now). I guess Elliott’s really taking this win-and-start method to heart. He’s definitely been the better of the two goaltenders since this new method.

The game started out quite rough for the Flames. With the Flyers scoring just 1:30 into the game, it was already starting to look bad. But then the Flames had a bit of push back. But of course, it’s the Flames, and nothing can ever be easy for this team. Alex Chiasson would spear Nick Cousins and get a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Many people argued it should have just been a minor penalty, but hey, what’s done is done.

And with about two minutes left of the five minute major, which the Flames had managed to kill off somewhat successfully, Sean Monahan accidentally gets a delay of game penalty.

I know guys, I was crying in the fetal position too. But surprisingly enough, and thank goodness for Brian Elliott, the Flames managed to kill off a full two-minute 5-on-3 penalty. The Flames would end up tying the game before all those penalties, thanks to Matthew Tkachuk, and they made it 2-1 by the end of second.

To be completely honest, this wasn’t the prettiest of wins. The Calgary Flames only luckily came out of this game with two points and it’s all because of Brian Elliott. Without him, the Flyers could have easily won this game by scoring four or five goals.

But hey, a win is a win. Let’s just hope they’re awake and well for the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. They really need all the wins right now. And with these big two points to put them back in a Wild Card spot, it’ll be a stressful next couple of weeks.

Oh and spoiler alert, Monahan still hasn’t scored his 100th goal. He’ll literally not have another goal for the rest of the season because the universe just wants to spite him now.
