Calgary Flames Daily: Game Day, Brian Elliott Finding His Game
Good morning Flames fans! The Calgary Flames will be back in the city tonight to face the Los Angeles Kings. Let’s look at some recent Flames news.
It’s another cold day in the province of Alberta tonight where the Calgary Flames will take on the Los Angeles Kings. These two teams have already met one other time where the Kings shutout the Flames 5-0. A bit of a rough loss, I’d say.
However, the Flames have won 5 of their last six and the Kings have won just one in their last five. So the Flames will be coming out feeling hot tonight.
Chad Johnson had the start the last time these two teams met. The Flames haven’t posted their projected lineups yet, but it’s safe to guess that Brian Elliott will most likely get the start tonight. The Flames are coming off a very successful 4-0-1 road trip where Elliott started in four of the games. He went 3-0-1.

Safe to say that he’s finally starting to give the Flames the goaltending they needed. And he’s definitely starting to prove that he’s the goaltender that the Flames were hoping he would be. The biggest problem for this team for the last few years has been their goaltending. Not that their goaltenders were always bad, but they were never consistent. And with how good Elliott’s been over the last month, it’s nice to see that he may finally be giving the Flames the consistency they need heading into these last few weeks of the regular season.
Tonight’s game will also be fun for another goaltending reason: Ben Bishop. He was traded to the Kings just days ago. We don’t know the starting goaltender for the Kings yet either, but if Bishop gets the start, which there’s a high chance he will, this will be a fun game.
I mean, games against the Kings are always fun. Except, you know, when the Flames lose 5-0.
