Good afternoon Calgary Flames fans! It’s a beautiful day in Calgary when the Flames will take on the Detroit Red Wings. Let’s look at some news.

First things first, the Calgary Flames welcome the Detroit Red Wings at the ‘Dome tonight. These two teams have already met before, back in November, where the Flames took that one 3-2. The game-winner came by, you guessed it, a Mike. Mikael Backlund scored the game-winner.

We also have Dougie Hamilton who had three assists in that game and has been a big impact on this team this season. Ever since he’s been put on that first unit with Mark Giordano, he’s been incredible and that duo together rarely makes mistakes that cost them.

There is also Chad Johnson who was in net last time and stopped 21 of 23 shots. The Flames haven’t put out the projected lineup for tonight yet, but we can probably assume that Brian Elliott will be the starter again. He’s been absolutely incredible since the All-Star break and he’s won four in a row and is 8-1-1 in his last 10 games. He was also incredible in the important division game against the LA Kings, where the Flames won 2-1 in overtime and Elliott let in just one goal on 29 shots.

Speaking of the lineup, somebody we also probably won’t be seeing is Curtis Lazar. Again, the Flames haven’t put out the lineup for tonight yet, but they say we probably won’t see him make his Flame debut tonight. However, he’s still fitting in just fine with the team.

"“Stand aside! Stand aside!” admonished Kris Versteeg to a semi-circle gaggle of media awaiting No. 20’s arrival from the ice. “Curtis Lazar on the way! Curtis Lazar on the way!”“This is a fresh start for myself. The guys have been awesome so far. I’m getting to know them all. I can’t wait to take my game to the next level as a member of the Calgary Flames.” Curtis Lazar said on Thursday.“It was a pretty cool feeling when I landed last night. I texted my parents ‘I’m home.’“To be here, with no weight on my shoulders, I can just go out and play,” Lazar reasoned. That’s a big thing Mr. Treliving said to me on the phone. He said: ‘Curtis, I just want you to go out and be you.’ And that was music to my ears.”"
