Good morning Calgary Flames fans! It may be a Monday morning, but we’ve got plenty to be happy about. Let’s check out some Flames news.

It’s a cold Monday morning here in Calgary, but that’s alright because we’ve still got a reason to smile. The Calgary Flames have reached a season-high seven-game win streak with their own over the New York Islanders last night. This is also the longest active win-streak in the NHL right now. The Flames are no longer just trying to stay in the running, they’re chasing after those top guys.

Via Calgaryflames.com:

“To be honest, we think we’ve been doing a lot of good things for a lot of the year,” said skipper Mark Giordano.“I think the confidence came, for me, anywhere between getting that point in Vancouver when we dominated and scored late and that Nashville game where we blew a 4-1 lead in their building (and) found a way to come back and get two points.“Then we started to roll.“Now you can see it every night. We expect to win. We have that belief. And that’s huge for a team in our spot.”

Now, we may be smiling about the Flames, but there’s another Calgary team who don’t have big smiles on their faces.

Inferno fall to the Clarkson Cup

The defending Clarkson Cup champions and the Calgary Inferno aka the sisters of the Calgary Flames, fell short yesterday as well. It was the Clarkson Cup yesterday where Les Canadiennes de Montreal won the Stanley Cup of the CWHL.

After an excellent season going 20-4 and leading the league, they fell short to the number two team all year.

These two teams actually met last season as well during the Clarkson Cup final. Looks like Les Canadiennes decided to take revenge this time and claim their prize.

And now with the CWHL season over, these talented women can now watch and cheer on their brothers.
