The Calgary Flames continue to impress and shock everyone. They’ve now won their tenth straight game in a shootout win over the defending Stanley Cup Champs.

I’m sorry, I’ll try to stop yelling and cheering enough to write this out. But the Calgary Flames continue to impress everyone. And shock, but we don’t have to talk about that. They’ve now beat the defending Stanley Cup Champions both times this season and both times in a shootout. And both times they were saved by Kris Versteeg with his shootout goals.

The Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins took to the ‘Dome to both try and extend their win-streaks. Calgary was looking to make it ten straight while the Pens were looking to make it six straight. Well, spoiler alert, but the Flames have now made it ten straight! And they continue to set records.

They previously held a ten-game win-streak before relocating to Calgary, when they were still the Atlanta Flames. That was back in 1978-1979.

Well, now we’re in 2017 and it’s the first time the Calgary Flames have had a ten-game win streak! A couple of key things to take away from tonight:

  • Deryk Engelland and Dennis Wideman each had a goal tonight (what? What universe are we in?)
  • None other than Sidney Crosby (boo) who tied the game late in the third
  • Kris Versteeg is getting an edible arrangement from me

And of course we have Johnny Gaudreau doing a classic Johnny Hockey move and does a wrap-around to make it 3-2 in the third.

The Flames have now won four straight against the Pens. Everyone was saying that tonight’s game was truly going to be the ultimate test for this team. First, to see if they could make it ten-straight. And to play a team as good as the Penguins.

Brian Elliott also continues his win-streak, with nine straight games. We again owe our entire lives and souls to this man because stopped 32 of 35 shots and some key saves in OT when the Pens had a powerplay.

Boy, this was a stressful game, but I’m happy about the outcome.

I’d say being on a ten-game win streak and going 15-2-1 in their last 18 games is pretty good for a team who were basically written off in January.
