The Calgary Flames 10-game win streak officially comes to an end with their loss to the Boston Bruins. Don’t worry, we’re crying too.
I’m going to be completely honest here, I just laid in bed for about an hour crying before beginning to write this. The Calgary Flames win-streak officially comes to an end with their loss to the Boston Bruins tonight. To be fair, the Flames did not have a good game. They were basically all over the place and I’m not surprised they didn’t win.
First, we already had fans worried because Brian Elliott was sick with an illness and wouldn’t be playing. Now, it’s not that people don’t have faith in Chad Johnson. It’s just that Elliott has been so darn good that you don’t want him out. And Johnson hasn’t played for over a month, it was a little worrisome.
And I guess fans had the right to be worried. The Flames lost 4-2, one by an empty-netter. But the three that Johnson let in were all soft goals. They were goals he should have had and, dare I say it, Elliott would have had.
Calgary Flames
Now, I know it’s a lot of pressure. He as inactive and was put into a game that the Flames had the chance to beat a franchise record for. But unfortunately, he couldn’t help his team out with that.
Now, the Flames have already beat a Calgary Flames record, when they beat their eight-game win streak. However, they tied an Atlanta Flames record, before the Flames relocated to Calgary, with the ten-game win streak. This record was previously held in 1978-1979.
Some good news out of tonight though is that Alex Chiasson had a goal and now has 10 goals on the season. There are now a dozen Flames with goals in the double digits which is the first time they have been able to do this in 25 years. And with an assist from Matt Stajan on that goal, Matty Franchise is now at 400 NHL career points.
Now, this loss isn’t the end of the world. Everybody feels really down because they had a chance to break a record and make history, but let’s look at the positives: They still had that incredible ten-game win streak, they’ll get right back into it against the Dallas Stars on Friday, and they’re still in a Pacific Division spot.

If I can manage to stop crying about this loss, I’m sure you all can too.
