Happy Sunday Calgary Flames fans! It’s a beautiful day in Calgary when the Flames will return to YYC and begin a home-stance tomorrow. Let’s check out some Flames news.

The Calgary Flames end their road-trip on a high with a huge overtime win against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday evening. It was 2-2 with three seconds left in OT, but thanks to Sean Monahan for scoring with 2.5 seconds left in OT. Even Brian Elliott said he was preparing for shootout in those dying seconds.

The Flames were 0-2-0 on their road-trip before that game, which is definitely not where they wanted to be after coming off their 10-game win streak. But these two points against the Blues were huge and they managed to stay in that first wildcard spot.

And what’s a post-game win without some post-game comments?

"“It was a huge game,” Monahan said. “We were 0-2 to start this trip. To go home with two points is huge. The way we played and the way we came back there, that’s a big win.“That goes a long way.”“Great resiliency with this group now from where we were at the beginning of the year,” Gulutzan said. “We’ve really matured as a whole group. It didn’t get us down. You could tell on the bench. We believe in ourselves and we’ve grown. We’ve come to embrace sticking with it…stick with the game plan.”"

On to other things, the Flames signed NCAA defenceman, Josh Healey, yesterday. He’s in his final year at Ohio State University, and the Calgary Flames signed him on a two-year, two-way deal. Healey is known around the NCAA as a bit of a hard-hitter.

"“Signing (here) kind of feels like coming home.” Said Healey. “I’ve dreamed of this my whole life. I’m ready to get started.”“My strength, physically … from being a freshman to now, as a senior, it’s a big difference.“My confidence too … I have more confidence in my game and I feel I’m ready for the next level.”"
