Happy Monday Calgary Flames fans! It’s coming down to the wire with only seven games left. Let’s check out some Flames news.
It’s game day! The Calgary Flames will be facing off against the Colorado Avalanche tonight for their third and final meeting of the season. The Flames won the first two and have a good chance of winning this third one.
Especially since they can clinch a playoff spot by Wednesday.
Right now, the Flames magic number is 3. With every win they have, that number goes down by 1 and every regulation loss the LA Kings have, that number also goes down by 1. For a loss in overtime by any team, it’ll go down by 0.5. Once that number reaches 0, the Flames officially clinch a playoff spot because the Kings won’t be able to reach them.

This means that with a win tonight, even if the Kings win tomorrow night, if the Flames can win in regulation on Wednesday against the Kings (if the Kings win tomorrow night), they’ll clinch. If the Kings lose tomorrow night, a win in any fashion on Wednesday will clinch a spot for the Flames.
*Incessant yelling*.
With the game tonight, let’s take a look at some things the players had to say.
Via Calgaryflames.com:
"“We have a tough schedule, we want to take care of business at home and pile up as many points as we can and hopefully get an X beside our name to get into playoffs. They’re a dangerous team and if we don’t play a structured game they have an offence that’ll eat you up.” – Mark Giordano.“We don’t have an X beside our name, we’re in a playoff battle.” – Glen Gulutzan“We need wins, we need points.” – Gulutzan"
