Good morning Calgary Flames fans! It’s a chilly day in Calgary this morning and quite gloomy with that unfortunate loss last night. Let’s check out some Flames news over the last day.

Of course right now, the biggest piece of news is the Calgary Flames losing to the Anaheim Ducks in their last home-game. This was an unfortunate loss because, even though the Ducks were up 2-0, the Flames tied it. Then the Ducks were up 3-2 and the Flames tied it again.

But then the Ducks made it 4-3 with about three minutes left in the game and that was quite the downer.

Somebody who didn’t fail to impress, like he hasn’t done in the last few months, was goaltender Brian Elliott. He stopped 30 of 34 shots and had some incredible desperation saves which kept the team in the game, especially in the second period. He may most likely get the start again on Tuesday evening when the Flames will play in Anaheim and try to break the Honda Center Curse.

Via Calgaryflames.com:

"“We were getting out chanced 14 to four after two periods,” head coach Glen Gulutzan said. “He (Elliott) was the reason why we had a chance to get a point.”Elliott was at his best in the second period, including denying Ducks leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf on what looked like an all-but-certain goal, until Elliott stretched out to make a left-pad save.“That was a desperation play. That’s what he’s done all year,” said Flames forward Troy Brouwer."

Right now, it seems highly likely that the Flames may end up staying in that Wildcard spot, which means no home-ice advantage for them. Now, even though the Ducks are two points ahead of the Oilers, the Oilers have one game on hand. So a very likely scenario for the Flames is either facing the Ducks or the Oilers.

However, then we have the Nashville Predators who are hot on the Flames’ tail. They’re just one point back with the same number of games played. So another scenario is facing the Chicago Blackhawks as well, who are first in the Central division. Which means a possible playoff scenario for the Flames has a possibility of three different teams right now.

The uncertainty is going to drive me crazy.
