The Calgary Flames season may be over, but fan-favorite Johnny Gaudreau seems like he’ll have a busy off-season. Let’s check out why.

Hockey may be done for the Calgary Flames, but three-time All Star Johnny Gaudreau will still have a busy off-season. First, in about a week, he’ll be competing with Team USA (boo) at the World Championship. He’ll be against another Flame, Chad Johnson, who will be representing Team Canada.

Then, he’ll be in Vegas for the NHL awards where he’s nominated for a Lady Byng. Something former teammate and mentor, Jiri Hudler, won just two seasons ago. We all remember Hudler winning this award in style.

Don’t worry Flames fans, Johnny doesn’t own a pair of red socks to begin with. Although I wish he did.

“I don’t even own a pair of red socks,” reports Johnny Gaudreau.“If I do end up winning, I probably won’t do the same speech or take my shoes off.“He didn’t even bring a suit from Czech. He bought a new suit, new shoes, new dress socks when he got there. I don’t even think he brought the suit home with him. I think he just left it or donated it.“That was a bit … ridiculous.“Funny, but ridiculous.”

I think Johnny has a great chance of winning Lady Byng. We actually put out an article about why he deserves to win which can be found here. But he came in fourth last year in voting which was ahead of the other two nominees this year. He has the least amount of PIM in the league as well (min. 50 games).

Now, let’s see about how he feels about representing his country at an international stage.

Via Calgaryflames.com:

“I think just personally, I didn’t want the season to be over here,” said Gaudreau. “I wanted to keep playing and I think we deserved to still be playing. For me, I think going over there and playing for my country, it’s always exciting.”“I’ve talked to some guys that are on the team,” started Gaudreau, who officially caps his 2016-17 season as Calgary’s leading point-getter with 61 in 72 regular season games played.“We have a good group out there, so I’m excited to go over there and keep playing hockey.”

I feel like Johnny Gaudreau just never stops. He could play hockey for hours and hours and not get tired. I mean, when the Calgary Flames are down a man, he’s the one who is usually double-shifting.

This will be good for him, being able to burn his energy. Children need some sort of way to burn their energy, right?

Jokes Johnny!

At least he’ll be having a busy off-season to keep him in his groove for when next season rolls around.
