Happy Monday Calgary Flames fans! I feel like I’m saying this everyday but it keeps getting warmer in Calgary. Let’s check out some Flames news.

Well, we don’t have much to talk about since the Calgary Flames season is over. But their little brothers season isn’t over yet! They’re in the post-season battling for the Calder Cup. The Stockton Heat, the AHL affiliate for the Flames, have forced a game 5 in their first round playoff series against the San Jose Barracuda.

Unlike the NHL, these games are five-game series, so good on the Heat for forcing this decisive game 5. David Rittich, Heat goaltender, had a stellar 34-save performance to help his team take this game 5-3.

The Heat were trailing 1-0 after the first period but thanks to some goals by some players that Flames fans know about, Hunter Shinkaruk and Garnet Hathaway, the Heat made it 2-1, but the Barracuda managed to tie up the game after 2 periods.

But you already know how this story goes, the Heat won 5-3.

“We’re a thorn in the side, for sure, and we’ve been that way for a while,” Heat head coach Ryan Huska told the media following Sunday’s win. “There’s a real strong belief in our group. Even when we got ourselves down in the third period, our bench didn’t change at all. There’s 100% belief that we were going to win the game.“It may have been a little more stressful than we would’ve liked, but we got the job done and that’s what’s important. That’s what we needed to do. Find a way to get the game in San Jose. We have one more game to look forward to and we have to find a way to win on the road now.”

Let’s all cheer on the Flames’ little brothers tomorrow night where it’s do or die.
