Johnny Gaudreau continues to be a Calgary Flames fan favourite with his play so far at the World Championship. Let’s see how May 10th went down.

Man, Team USA should be thrilled the Calgary Flames lost in the first round. Because of that, they get to have Johnny Gaudreau on their team. So you’re welcome, America. Again, Team Canada didn’t play yesterday, so no discussions on Chad Johnson today. They will be playing later today however, so we’ll keep an eye on if he’s starting.

Now, Gaudreau wasn’t phenomenal or anything in yesterday’s game, but he still managed to pick up an assist! Now giving him five points in four games and five in his last three. Actually, in every game that Gaudreau has a point in, Team USA has won. Wake up America.

Team USA won yesterday against Team Italy by a score of 3-2. Alright, this isn’t me trying to be mean, but who even is on Team Italy? It’s definitely not even remotely a surprise that they were able to win. USA in fact outshot Italy 32-9… No that wasn’t a typo.

Ok to be honest, I didn’t really watch the game. I had full intentions of waking up and watching it but 8 am rolled around and I couldn’t do it. But from what I heard what happened in the game, it was somewhat of a mellow game. Actually, Italy didn’t even get a shot on goal until over 15 minutes into the game. Yikes.

Brock Nelson of the New York Islanders earned the US player of the game with his two goals in the game. One shorthanded goal with a feed by Dylan Larkin and one powerplay goal with a feed by, you guessed it, Mr. Johnny Hockey. In case you missed last game, Johnny was the player of the game (so he wins a watch!).

Via USA Hockey:

"“They’re (Italy) tough to play against,” said Jeff Blashill, head coach of the 2017 U.S. Men’s National Team. “Our guys kept with it and made enough plays to win the game and that’s the important thing.”"

“They’re tough to play against”. Alright, Jeff.

Team USA won’t play again until Saturday against Team Latvia so they have a couple days rest.

Next: Flames should trade their first round pick

Johnny Gaudreau right now is second on Team USA for points with five and tied for fourth out of all players at the IIHF for goals with three. I know nobody would ever get sick of hearing or watching Johnny play, but let’s hope Chad starts in net soon. We need some more material.
