Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau won the NHL’s good boy award! But he did it in different fashion than former Flame Jiri Hudler.
All of our hopes and dreams came true. Johnny Gaudreau finally won an award! He won the Lady Byng trophy which is known as the Gentleman award. Aka the NHL’s good boy award. Yay to the Calgary Flames forward!
Johnny had just four PIM in 72 games this season and still lead his team in points with 61. When he accepted his award, I guess it was a decent acceptance speech. But he didn’t do it in the same style as former Flame Jiri Hudler did two years ago when he also won the Lady Byng trophy.
We actually put out on article on Johnny’s case for the Lady Byng a couple months ago! That can be found here. And wow, looks like we made a compelling argument. I should be a lawyer.

Via Calgary Flames:
"“I don’t even own a pair of red socks,” reports Johnny Gaudreau.“If I do end up winning, I probably won’t do the same speech or take my shoes off.“He didn’t even bring a suit from Czech. He bought a new suit, new shoes, new dress socks when he got there. I don’t even think he brought the suit home with him. I think he just left it or donated it.“That was a bit … ridiculous.“Funny, but ridiculous.”"
You could have been funny and ridiculous too, Johnny! At least his dad is proud of him.
