Happy snowy Monday Calgary Flames fans! We already know the biggest piece of Flames news, so let’s talk about it in Flames Daily.
Normally Mondays aren’t the best days of the week. But in this case for Calgary Flames fans, it’s the best start to the week anybody could ask for. After reports last night stating that the Flames and 45-year-old UFA Jaromir Jagr were in ‘serious’ talks, Flames fans were excited. We all needed to get a good sleep to wake up early and await the news.
And news is what we got.
The Flames have signed Jaromir Jagr to a one-year deal worth $1 million in base salary with an additional potential $1 million to be earned in bonuses. But the fans aren’t the only ones excited.
Today, we are all Michael Frolik.

There isn’t a whole lot else going on since this Jagr news was the biggest event for the Flames. And in the hockey world, for that matter. But, the Flames also placed Garnet Hathaway and Luke Gazdic on waivers this morning, where the deadline was 10 a.m.
The Flames will have to announce their final roster by tomorrow and with the addition of Jagr, they still have a few more cuts to make. Whether that’s releasing Tanner Glass from his PTO, or Mark Jankowski spending another year down in Stockton, we won’t know for sure until it’s announced.
Freddie Hamilton could be also going down to Stockton and we’ve seen Rasmus Andersson and Jon Gillies get sent down already as well. Looks like we’ll have to keep waiting for the rest of the players.
