Jaromir Jagr will finally be in the lineup tonight against the LA Kings! Let’s check out some more Calgary Flames news over the last day.
The Calgary Flames may have had a rough season-opener, but it’s just been going up. They win their first home-opener in six years, then they go on to finally break the dreadful 13-year-long Honda Center curse that’s been plaguing them since 2004. But with some help from Jobu, a figurine from the movie Major League to help them break the curse, it worked.
Via Calgary Herald:
"“We’re always looking for stuff,” [Head coach Glen] Gulutzan explained. “We were talking during the regular season (last year) about the curse and all the stuff you guys make up — the media. So it didn’t mean that much to us. But then we just thought, ‘Let’s deal with it.’ We’re always looking for (video) clips. Major League is always one that we use for different things, so we thought, let’s bring in Jobu.”"

The curse has finally been broken! Thank you Jobu. And again, it keeps getting better.
The Flames will end their California road-trip tonight in the city of Angels where they’ll battle the tough LA Kings. And Jaromir Jagr will finally be making his Flames debut! After not exactly training in the off-season and missing all of training camp and preseason, also you know, being 45-years-old, Jagr wasn’t in his best shape. And he needed some extra time to practice with the team.
Finally, he’ll be in the lineup tonight! I somewhat wanted his very first game to be in a home game, which will be on Friday, but nonetheless, everyone’s excited. Jagr will replace Curtis Lazar on that third line alongside Sam Bennett and Kris Versteeg.
Via NHL.com:
"“He’s practiced on that line. He’s been here a week, so there’s no need to make it any bigger than it is,” coach Glen Gulutzan said after the morning skate. “We had those chats already. Now they’ve just got to go out and play. Jags had been in on all the meetings and knows the systems. [We have to] just make sure he gets the right amount of minutes and see how it goes with the chemistry.”"
Of course, I’m ecstatic that he’s in the lineup, but I wish it wasn’t at the expense of Curtis Lazar, who’s been proving his place in the lineup the last few games. I get that the Flames coaching staff probably want Troy Brouwer and Tanner Glass for some big guys against the big LA Kings. But it’s still a little frustrating.
