Calgary Flames Daily: Jaromir Jagr injured, Mark Jankowski recalled
Well, it’s a busy day for Calgary Flames news. Let’s check out everything that’s been happening since last night and this morning.
It’s a busy day in Calgary Flames news, so let’s just jump right into it. The Calgary Flames placed Jaromir Jagr on Injured Reserve, following a lower-body injury he suffered on Saturday night. It seemed quite harmless during the game. Then the Flames announced he would be out the rest of the game for further evaluations, but he showed up on After Hours on HNIC and he seemed fine.
He won’t be allowed to play until at least October 29th, but maybe he just needed some rest. He is getting old after all.
But because of his injury, after much anticipation, Mark Jankowski has been recalled to the Flames lineup.

“If you feel sorry for yourself, you just get in your own head, not in a good way, and wind up doing yourself way more harm than good,” reasons the 23-year-old centre, summoned by the Flames in time for Monday morning’s pre-charter-flight practice at the Scotiabank Saddledome.“Obviously I was frustrated when it happened because I thought I’d had a good camp.“But my goal as soon as I found out I was being sent down was to work on what they told me to and do everything I possibly could to be back up top as soon as possible.“That was the only thing on my mind.”“That’s part of it, right?” says Flames’ GM Brad Treliving. “That’s what you’re supposed to do: Go down and play well. Some guys don’t, they’re maybe feeling a little sorry for themselves, then they stay down for a while and wonder why.“An opportunity has opened up and by his play during camp and the start of the season (in Stockton), his number gets called.“It’s a good lesson to everybody that this is how you do it.”
With the Stockton Heat, Jankowski has been a force. He has five goals and eight points in six games so far. And with him getting the call-up, it seems like Sam Bennett will be playing on the wing of Jankowski, as he plays centre. Our prayers are finally being answered, guys.
It also seems like Eddie Lack may finally get his first start tomorrow night as the Calgary Flames go on their two-game road trip where they’ll hopefully make up for their back-to-back home losses.
So much change!
