Calgary Flames Daily: Game day, Jankowski heading down?
It’s game day! After two losses for the Calgary Flames, they’ll try to get one back tonight against the Washington Capitals. More Flames news here.
After two losses, one on home ice, the Calgary Flames will hope to get one back tonight against the Washington Capitals. They are now 1-4-0 on home-ice and they haven’t won a game at the ‘Dome since their second game of the season on Oct. 7th against the Winnipeg Jets.
The Flames will be playing a tired Caps team who played last night against the Edmonton Oilers where they won 5-2. The Oilers had the first two goals of the game but the Caps managed to come back with two goals from Evgeny Kuznetsov and three assists from Alexander Ovechkin.
The Flames will be playing Ovechkin, then go on to play Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. Not exactly two players you want to be playing two in a row.

Via Calgary Herald:
“It’s nice not to see those guys every night,” nodded Flames rearguard Travis Hamonic, who faced ‘Ovi’ and ‘Sid’ up to five or six times each season during his days with the New York Islanders.“I’ve spent a lot of time on the ice against those guys, and it drives you to be better. Whether you’re playing them or any other top player in the league, you want to measure yourself. You want to see where you’re at.“It’s a barometer test for you and your team . . . You want to try to put your best foot forward against some of the best in the league and come out on top.”
Head coach Glen Gulutzan has already confirmed that Jaromir Jagr won’t be in the lineup tonight, but he is set to return from the lineup shortly after missing a few games due to injuries. Which most likely means that Mark Jankowski may get sent back down. However, the Calgary Flames do have a four days before their next game, so they could potentially put a player like Freddie Hamilton on waivers in the hopes of sending him down to the AHL so that Jankowski stays up. But we’ll know more tomorrow about that.
