The Calgary Flames continue their homestand tonight against the Arizona Coyotes. They may also be losing Kris Versteeg for longer than we thought.
After a disappointing loss on Tuesday evening to the Toronto Maple Leafs to start their homestand, the Calgary Flames will be looking to improve on that tonight vs. the Arizona Coyotes. But there’s some good news and some bad news. Let’s start with the good news.
After Jaromir Jagr missing one game vs. the Leafs due to an undisclosed lower-body injury and being labelled as day-to-day, he’ll be returning to the lineup tonight. But the bad news is that Kris Versteeg may be out longer than we hoped. Versteeg was also listed as day-to-day before being put on IR yesterday morning and the Flames calling up Garnet Hathaway from Stockton.
However, this may end up being a season-long injury.

We don’t know anything for certain yet, however, if he requires surgery, then that’s a big loss on for the Flames. After their disappointing loss on Monday evening, even head coach Glen Gulutzan said that without Versteeg, the team was little out of sync. Mark Jankowski replaced Versteeg’s spot on the first powerplay unit. But the Flames couldn’t capitalize on any of their PP chances. SO things don’t exactly look to be going up right now.
With the Calgary Flames having troubles with their secondary scoring, Versteeg was the only bottom-six guy, other than Jankowski, who has more than one goal. We’ll have to wait and see what the Flames comment on this and if he’ll be out for months. But this is a big loss for the team.
But today’s a new game and they’ll have to make it happen without Versteeg.
