Well, it seems like Jaromir Jagr’s time in Calgary is done. The Calgary Flames have reportedly placed the 45-year old on waivers.

It’s official: my heart is broken. The Calgary Flames have reportedly placed Jaromir Jagr on waivers. This was also apparently a mutual decision between Jagr and the Flames so he can go back and play in Europe (nothing is official yet).

After he was finally signed in October, it was like a dream for Flames fans. But that dream is now a nightmare. Ok, slight exaggeration, but you get it.

According to a source as well, this has been an ongoing process for a few weeks now and supposedly, the Flames gave Jagr all the time he wanted to make a final decision. As per TSN’s Bob McKenzie, if he clears waivers tomorrow, he could be assigned to a European team to finish out his contract and it wouldn’t require unconditional waivers for termination.

That is, unless, a team picks him up. Which is most likely not to happen, but anything can happen. Rumor has it that Jagr has a desire to play for HC Kladno – a team in Czech Republic part of WSM Liga, which his dad (also named Jaromir Jagr) is the president of and Jaromir Jagr himself owns part of that team.

Can you imagine something like that happening here? That’s like Murray Edwards playing for the Calgary Flames.

However, this might be good news. Jagr hasn’t played since December with a nagging lower-body injury, but he hopes to continue to play. His career isn’t over yet. So if the Flames “loan” Jagr to Kladno, they could still get him back.

So if the Flames make playoffs (knock on wood), then he could come back and still play in the NHL again. The only thing is that now he won’t break the record for most games played in history. He was just 34 games shy of Gordie Howe who leads that category.

Next: Hey Jaromir Jagr, you're really old

Well, it may or may not be a farewell with Jaromir Jagr, but one thing’s certain: my heart is broken in pieces.
