Calgary Flames Daily: Game day, finally going on a road trip
After a few weeks at home with just one game on the road, the Calgary Flames will finally commence a six-game road trip. They seem to have luck away from the ‘Dome.
This road trip really couldn’t come at a better time for the Calgary Flames. They lost six in a row after winning seven straight, then finally won one game, and are now headed on the road. The Flames play tonight vs. the Chicago Blackhawks for the third and final time of the season.
Their first game was on New Year’s Eve which started their seven-game win streak. Then they beat them again in OT on Saturday evening which broke their six-game losing streak. Does this mean they’re about to start another win-streak? Let’s hope so.
The Flames are 13-5-5 on the road this season, one of the best road records in the NHL, and they’re 13-13-34 at home. The team doesn’t exactly know why this is the case since they don’t think they play any differently at home, but so be it.

“We play the same way.” said captain Mark Giordano. “I think sometimes these stats are funny. We’d like to be better at home, that’s for sure, but if you win some of the overtime ones and all that the record can look different. But in saying that, we have been really simple, really consistent on the road so hopefully that carries over.”
Like I mentioned, the Flames will play the Blackhawks again tonight for a back-to-back with the same team type of scenario. And Mark Giordano likes those kinds of games.
“Especially a team that’s not in your division, I think it’s kind of cool cause both games there’s a lot of emotion, both teams are fighting to get into a playoff spot so they’re big games, they’re important. I kind of like playing the same team back-to-back, home-and-home, I’ve always enjoyed those ones.”
Mark Jankowski will also draw into the lineup tonight after he was a healthy scratch last game where Andrew Mangiapane drew in instead, but yesterday morning, Mangiapane was sent back down to Stockton.
“Obviously when I found out, I was pissed off, you know, I want to be out there and help the team win and I think I can do that. Obviously, I have to learn from it and I wasn’t playing as well as I can be and I think sitting back and watching the game and it’s going to help me in the future
Let’s all cross our fingers the Flames start a new win streak tonight and make their way back into a playoff spot.
