It’s game day! The Calgary Flames will be in Las Vegas for the first time to play the Vegas Golden Knights as they also begin their first ever moms trip.

The Calgary Flames begin a two-game road trip tonight, which is good and bad news. Good, because for some reason, they play much better on the road than at home. Bad, because the Vegas Golden Knights have the best home record in the league, going 22-5-2.

While the Flames head to Vegas for a game for the first time in franchise history, they’ll also have their first ever moms trip. Everyone knows about the infamous dads trip, where all the players and coaches fathers come along for a road trip. But not often do the teams bring their moms. Although this isn’t the first time a team has done this, this is the first time the Flames have done this.

Is it a coincidence that it’s during the team’s trip to Vegas? Er… management may say no, but the players aren’t convinced it’s a mere coincidence.

“We just thought it would be good for the fellas to have their moms accompany them to Vegas,” said Treliving, playing it straight.“Well planned out,” said a laughing Flames forward Troy Brouwer, unconvinced it was a coincidence the inaugural moms trip happened to be slated for Vegas. “I don’t think so. When I was in Chicago we had a moms trip and they had an absolute blast. I think the moms were actually a little wilder than the dads when we had the dads trip.“My mom is not a huge drinker so I’m excited to try to pump a few drinks into her tonight and see if she’ll get a little noisy tonight.”“The moms are there to enjoy themselves. They’re going to be wilder than any of the players will be. I’m sure they’ll have things to do – a few Mimosas and a few drinks by the pool hopefully.”

With all the fun of the moms being there, the Flames do have a tough battle tonight. With a win tonight for Vegas, they’ll beat the Hartford Whalers’ record of 23 home wins in their an inaugural season, back in 1980.

We also have some updates on Mike Smith and Troy Brouwer. Both have been cleared to skate and clear to play, and they will travel with the team, but whether or not they’re playing tonight or tomorrow is still up in the air.
