Calgary Flames Daily: Game day, desperately needing a win
It’s game day! The Calgary Flames will play host tonight as the New York Rangers continue their Western Canada road trip.
The Calgary Flames and New York Rangers will meet for the second and final time this season. Last time these two teams played, the Rangers were on a four-game losing streak and had lost seven of their last eight. The day before, they had also announced that they’re basically going to start rebuilding and to expect lots of changes to the lineup. Lots of transparency from the organization which seemed to boast well with the fans.
But of course, as they’re at the worst point they’ve been in years, the Flames lose to them. It’s quite typical, to be honest. In that game, Brett Kulak (finally) got his first NHL goal and Curtis Lazar (finally) got his first goal of the season.
Tonight, we still don’t have the projected lineup and supposedly, we can expect a lot of game-time decisions. However, here is how the lineups looked this morning during practice:
Tanner Glass… and Chris Stewart… in the same game. I just want to have a conversation with Glen Gulutzan. We need to have a chat. I get that Micheal Ferland is injured, but I’d even go with Curtis Lazar over Glass and Stewart. I’m still not even sure why the Flames called up Glass to begin with, I really thought the Glass experiment was over.
After two losses on their two-game road trip, the Flames are finding their playoff hopes slipping out of their hands. However, their points right now could be foreshadowing…
However, let’s remember that there’s another Western Conference team this year, and they’re a Pacific team, making it harder for the Flames. And the Nashville Predators were the last wildcard team to make it.
