Calgary Flames Daily: Game day, fans still being supportive

CALGARY, AB - MARCH 16: Garnet Hathaway

The Calgary Flames are playing in Vegas tonight on a crucial road trip (but we’ve been saying that for weeks now). Let’s check out some more news.

The Calgary Flames play an afternoon game today at 2pm against the Vegas Golden Knights. They’re on a pivotal two-game road-trip right now, but we’ve been saying that for weeks at this point. After their loss against the San Jose Sharks, the Flames need to be winning about 8-9 out of the 10 remaining games they have.

After that disappointing loss to the Sharks, the fans are still supportive. During yesterday’s practice at Winsport, the team had lots of fan support to send them off on this two-game road trip.

I mean, that’s better than what my dad’s been yelling at the TV. But we’ll just leave that alone.

Via Calgary Sun:

“When you wake up this morning, the loss doesn’t sit well, but you come to the rink and you realize the fans still love you and their team,” said Troy Brouwer of the therapeutic venue change prior to their afternoon fight to Las Vegas for Sunday’s crucial tilt.“It’s just fun to be able to have these practices here, especially after what happened (Friday) night and the situation we’re in. It lightens the mood.”“I think it’s real good for the guys,” said Gulutzan.“You come out there and you see really what hockey means to the city for these young kids. They’re excited to see their heroes.”It worked both ways as the players seemed buoyed by the endless ohs, ahs and cheers that came with every save or snipe.“There’s no question – we coaches came off the ice today and said, ‘we were really sharp in practice,’” said Gulutzan.

The Calgary Flames are currently four points out of a playoff spot and most of their games come against divisional teams. They really need to win all those games to make the playoffs. If the Flames don’t make the playoffs, they don’t get a draft pick until the fourth round. So everything is riding on these last few games.

The Flames still play the Anaheim Ducks, the San Jose Sharks again, and the LA Kings. All of who are teams they’re battling with right now to make the playoffs. Let’s also hope the out-of-town scoreboard goes in their favour as well.

Let’s hope everything goes accordingly.
