There are 86 days until the season starts! So let’s play where are they now, starting with former Calgary Flames player, #86 Josh Jooris.

Can you believe there are already less than three months left until the season starts? It seems like it was just yesterday that the Calgary Flames failed to qualify for the post-season after trading away all their draft picks for their “guaranteed Cup-run year”. Oh well.

Since there are 86 days left until the season starts, let’s play where are they now! This will be slightly different than what we did last off-season where we looked at different players with the Flames who wore numbers correlating with how many days left there are in the season. This time it won’t be so in-depth with little details they did throughout their seasons with the Flames, it’ll be looking at what they did when they left the Flames and where they’re at right now!

Let’s start with #86, Josh Jooris.

Jooris went undrafted, tried out with two teams before finally signing with the Flames. He made his NHL debut on October 15th, 2014. He played in two seasons with the Flames before leaving and playing with four teams since the end of the 2015-16 season. I mean, at least he’s travelled a lot, right?

Jooris signed with the New York Rangers before he was put on waivers shortly after. The Arizona Coyotes picked him up, but they didn’t re-sign him. So Jooris signed with the Carolina Hurricanes. Again, he was put on waivers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins picked him up.

So where is Jooris now?

On July 1st, he signed a one-year two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. With the addition of John Tavares, the Leafs forwards look quite good. Jooris is projected at starting the season off with the Toronto Marlies, their AHL affiliate.

I do feel quite bad for Jooris. Bouncing around from team to team and playing with your fifth team in just a couple of years isn’t a great feeling. I wish him success with Toronto, but he most likely won’t find it.
