It’s time to bring back Calgary Flames Daily! Let’s check out the hottest news surrounding this team over the last 24 hours.

It’s been about a month into the season which means it’s time to bring back Calgary Flames Daily! The daily segment where we bring you the latest news surrounding the Flames over the last 24 hours.

Of course, we all already know about the incredible comeback win on Thursday night against the Colorado Avalanche, where the Flames were down 4-1 heading into the third period and won 6-5 in regulation. A big reason for that win was captain Mark Giordano, who had a record-high four points in a game. He’s now at 15 points in 14 games with Morgan Rielly as the only defenceman with more points at 16.

And of course, his teammates always rave about him.

Who said 4-1 leads in hockey are bad?. light. More

Via National Post:

“He has a great shot that everybody knows about, and he makes great little plays too,” praised Flames left-winger Matthew Tkachuk, who also collected three helpers against the crew from Colorado. “And then he’s smart in his decision-making. He’s not forcing anything.“But I think the big thing with him is he’s not a guy who plays 25-27 minutes and they look like easy minutes. He’s not one of those guys that you think, ‘Oh, he could play 30 minutes without even breaking a sweat.’“He’s battling out there every shift. He’s working so hard. He’s the hardest-worker on our team and to see that out of our captain, that’s what you want.”

Another player who was a factor on Thursday night, and has been quite good to start this season off, is Sam Bennett. He got into a big fight with Ian Cole during the second period after Cole laid a big hit on Mark Jankowski. Bennett right away dropped his gloves against Cole, which was after the Avs were up 4-1. While I don’t necessarily like or condone fighting, this may have arguably sparked the Flames’ comeback win.

Everyone was happy… but his mom.

Via Calgary Sun:

“(Diane) was not happy with me at all,” Bennett said after Friday’s optional practice at the Saddledome. “She asked me if I still had teeth. She’s not a fan of the fighting.”

Me neither, Diane.

“It’s really just emotion and adrenaline and instinct. You don’t think about it too much,” Bennett said. “I think the more you do it, the more comfortable you’re going to get. But it’s definitely not something that I’m going to be doing a ton of.”

That’s good to hear. We don’t want another Travis Hamonic type of injury because of unnecessary fighting.
