The Calgary Flames have placed forward Michael Frolik and defenceman Michael Stone on injured reserve.
The Calgary Flames announced Thursday morning that they have placed forward Michael Frolik and defenceman Michael Stone on injured reserve. The Flames didn’t specify what Frolik’s injury is, just that it is a lower-body injury. Shortly before game time against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday evening, the team announced that Frolik would be out of the lineup due to a lower-body injury. However, they estimate that he won’t be out for long. GM Brad Treliving has said that he’s day-to-day for now, but won’t be attending this road-trip.
Michael Stone on the other hand had a bit more of a serious injury. On Thursday morning, Stone felt some discomfort in his arm and was tested on Thursday morning. The Flames medical staff ended up finding a blood clot in his arm, which can lead to much more dangerous circumstances if not dealt with properly.
Stone has also been healthy scratch in all but one game for the Flames the last few weeks, so this won’t be too much of a loss for the team in the lineup, but everyone still wishes him all the best. Frolik is quite a significant member of the lineup. He contributes quite a bit on the third line and has been a prominent member of the 3M line (now has been substituted with Sam Bennett over the last few games).
Speaking of Bennett, he blocked a shot on Wednesday evening and seemed to wince a little bit after. He didn’t practice on Thursday morning with the team, but Treliving assured that it was simply a maintenance day for him and he’ll be fine for this upcoming road-trip.
Frolik will be eligible to return to the lineup on November 28th, which Treliving thinks he can potentially return in time for that game.
