The Calgary Flames off-season thus far has been full of breaking news and surprising rumours, and while the only major move we’ve seen thus far has been the trade of Tyler Toffoli, there’s a feeling around the league that there’s more coming for Calgary. One player that’s almost certainly done in Alberta is Noah Hanifin, and over the past few weeks, there’s been whispers of both the Panthers and Sabres having genuine interest, and now, the Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly looking to get in on the action as well.

While they don’t have the assets of other teams involved in a potential bidding war for the 26-year old top blue liner, they can give Calgary some promising young players in return, and with the bidding war heating up, they will likely need to raise whatever offer they’ve already come with. Hanifin has been fantastic over the past two seasons, tallying 86 points while leading this team under Darryl Sutter, and even with his UFA status come 2024, it appears that more and more teams are interested.

Beyond these three, the Seattle Kraken, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers all have varying levels of interest, but at this point in time, it appears Hanifin’s time in Calgary is all but over after a fantastic five seasons for the C of Red.

So what do you think? Which teams should give Calgary the best package? Who are you targeting in a Hanifin deal? Should the Flames be targeting draft picks or young players? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
