Calgary Flames To Have New AHL Coach ‘In The Next Week’
The Calgary Flames off-season has been incredibly busy, but the team have accomplished a lot thus far, finding their new General Manager and their next Head Coach, but in the process, they may have lost one of the most promising young coaches in the NHL. In a surprise to some, the Flames picked Ryan Huska over two-time AHL Coach of the Mitch Love, who now finds himself as an assistant with the Washington Capitals, and now, the Flames have seemingly figured everything out beyond Love’s replacement.
According to General Manager Craig Conroy, fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out who the next coach of the Calgary Wranglers will be, as he has declared a new boss will be named ‘within the next week’. It’s not yet clear who the front runners for the job are, but with a very talented roster that boasts the likes of Cole Schwindt, Connor Zary, potentially Dustin Wolf and some new, up and coming prospects, it is a very appealing job for young coaches.
Given how the new regime have emphasized youth and building for the future, this will no doubt be a crucial decision, as the hiring of Love allowed the likes of Jakob Pelletier, Dustin Wolf and Matthew Phillips to develop to a very high potential, meaning the new coach will need to value the same things and be just as important to the future.
So what do you think Flames fans? Who should be the next Head Coach of the Calgary Wranglers? Who’s the most important and best prospects they’ll be developing? Which ones do you think they’ll graduate to the NHL in 2023? As always, let us know all your thoughts in the comments below.
