4. JP Hurlbert
While the Calgary Flames have some major positions of need, they also need to target elite talent, no matter the position, and in JP Hurlbert, they could land a potential top-line winger of the future. Not only does the Texas native have good size at 6-foot-0, 185 pounds, but he's got the production behind him, as he absolutely dominated his first season in the WHL, posting 42 goals and 97 points in just 68 games played.
In the playoffs, he had a solid 3 points in 4 games played, and at every turn, he's proven that he can be an elite level player of the future with his physical traits and his elite skillset. For the most part, Hurlbert ranks in the late teens among draft profiles, and while he has some major improvements to make, the Flames need quality over quantity, and he would be a fantastic pickup if they could move up into the early 20's or late teens.
3. Marcus Nordmark
Marcus Nordmark is yet another top prospect coming out of Sweden, and if the Flames land on Viggo Bjorck at No. 6 overall, then drafting a long-time teammate with Djurgardens makes perfect sense for Calgary. He's obviously more than that however, as Nordmark is 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, and given that he's still growing, he could be a very physical presence at the next level, but with a slow paced game, he may take some time to develop.
On the skill side of things, Nordmark has everything the Flames could need to be a threat in the NHL however, with the high level hockey IQ and passing ability leading to 24 assists in 25 games at the junior level in 2025/26. To get to Nordmark, the Flames may only need to move up a couple of spots in the draft, but if they want high-skilled players with upside offensively, Nordmark could be a home run play for this front office.
