Blake Coleman arrived in Calgary in the summer of 2021, and immediately the Texas native fit in with the organization and the team perfectly, becoming an integral part of the Calgary Flames franchise.
In that time, Coleman has posted 98 goals and 198 points in 390 games played, and with the departure of stars like Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, Elias Lindholm and Nazem Kadri, he's become a key top-six player for the organization. Many expected him to be traded at the 2026 deadline, but even after trading Kadri and Mackenzie Weegar, the team held onto Coleman, showing just how valuable his leadership is to the Flames team.
While that may be addressed in the upcoming summer, for now he remains in Calgary, and this latest achievement shows just how adored he is by so many across the city. For the third time in his career with the Flames, Coleman has now been awarded the Peter Maher Good Guy Award, voted on by the local media.

The annual award, selected by local media, is given to the player that best exemplifies Maher’s values in dealings with others: sincerity, integrity, dedication, and respect! pic.twitter.com/E8PM4N9bXI
This prestigious award is given to teh player that 'best exemplifies Maher’s values in dealings with others: sincerity, integrity, dedication, and respect', and if there's anyone that fits that description in Calgary, it's Coleman. He is now the second player in Calgary to win the award three times, following up former Flame Mackenzie Weegar who won the award in 2024/25.
Whether or not Coleman's career continues in Calgary beyond this summer, only time will tell, but one thing is for certain, and that is that he's become a player beloved by the fans, the organization and the media, and this latest award certainly shows that.
