What are the Flames true hopes?
Based on this, we know that in five years of this current format, the teams in the Calgary Flames current position have stayed put on three occasions and moved down in the draft twice, but since the new format, no one has moved up in the draft standings.
For those hoping to land Gavin McKenna, that certainly isn't a good sign, but if the odds of 3/5 hold true, the Flames could be picking in the top-four for just the second time in Calgary history following the Sam Bennett selection back in 2014. All of this leads to the 2026 NHL Draft Lottery on Tuesday May 5th, and whether or not the Flames move up, down or stay put, only time will tell.
All that we currently know is that the team will be picking in the top-six, and with any luck, they'll land the franchise changing player that leads this team through the back end of their rebuild.
