Weaknesses

Bjorck's biggest weakness is the obvious one, as he stands at just 5-foot-9, weighing 177 pounds, but given how productive he's been in every opportunity, it's safe to say that he's managed to overcome that, and should be able to do so at the next level as well.

On top of that, Bjorck needs to work on his top end speed as well as being a bit more patient with the puck, and if he's given time to develop, the latter two issues are something that can definitely be worked on by an NHL team.

Comparison

Given the size and the hockey IQ, there's one popular comparison for Bjorck at the NHL level, and that's Tampa Bay Lightning star Brayden Point, who has proved to be a major success despite his size as well. While Point isn't a superstar by any means, he's a consistently fantastic player, and if the Flames could find a 2C that's as good as Point, the rebuild will be going well.

Beyond that, names such as Zach Benson, Marco Rossi or Logan Cooley are all appropriate given the cerebral game at the smaller size, with the one thing that nobody can question about any of them being their high end skill, two-way style that lends itself to heavy minutes at the NHL level.

Fit with the Flames

Coming into the 2026 NHL Draft, the Flames biggest need remains a top centre, and while the desire to land an elite level LHD is also present, Bjorck would represent at the very least, a high upside 2C at the NHL level.

Right now, for most fans and analysts, the Flames pick comes down to Carson Carels and Bjorck if both remain available and the draft plays out the way it's expected too, but if Bjorck is the pick, he's the low-risk, high-reward player that's worthy of the No. 6 overall pick for Calgary.

Will he be available to the Flames?

This is the biggest question about Bjorck for Calgary heading into the draft, as some mock drafts have him going as low as No. 9 overall to Florida, while other analysts are betting on the drive and the upside and mocking him to go in the top five selections.

As of right now, we know how at least two of the top four picks will play out, but once again, things are a complete lottery beyond that, and while Bjorck has the potential to be a star in the NHL, given the concerns around his size, he'll likely be available when the Flames are on the board at No. 6.

Verdict

While the Flames would prefer an ultra-skilled centre to come in over the 6-foot-0 mark, one can't deny the utter talent and motor of Bjorck, even if it comes in a package that's just 5-foot-9, shorter than the elite level centres in the NHL.

Ultimately though, if Carson Carels is off the board, Bjorck is the pick, and even if Carels is available, Bjorck may still be the pick, as he has the talents, the physicality and the five to be a star in the NHL, as he represents a very low-risk, but high-reward option for the Flames.
