For the past two years, much, if not all of the excitement around the Calgary Flames has focused purely on the prospects and the future of the organization, a group that Craig Conroy has had a huge part in constructing.

Some of those pieces will be in the NHL next season with Dustin Wolf, Zayne Parekh and others leading the charge, but in a rebuild, you need patience, meaning that a lot of those future stars will be elsewhere in 2026/27. However, Flames fans can get a look at them during Development Camp, which has officially been announced to start this coming Wednesday, July 1st, and unsurprisingly, it may be the best camp roster we've ever seen in Calgary.

Firstly, all nine picks from the 2026 NHL Draft class will be in attendance, with added excitement around star blue liner Carson Carels, who figures to be a long-term addition to this Flames organization.

On top of that, the likes of Cole Reschny, Cullen Potter and Ethan Wyttenbach, the three big stars of the 2025 Flames draft class will be in attendance, and while all three are headed back to the NCAA this year, the expectation is that they will be back in Calgary once their season is over, for good this time.

After an injury that ended his 2025/26 season prematurely, one of the Flames top defensive prospects in Henry Mews will also be in attendance, but will not feature on the ice as he looks to get back to 100% and prove why he is going to be a very good player for Calgary moving forward. There are plenty of wildcard prospects in here too, ones that haven't drawn much acclaim, but with a good season in 2026/27, could be considered potential options for the future.

On-ice activities for these 25 players will take place on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd at WinSport, and with so many players trying to be noticed, it should be a fun, competitive affair to set the tone for the future of the Calgary Flames.
