Most exciting prospect outside of the Calgary Flames squad: Quinnipiac F Ethan Wyttenbach

The Calgary Flames prospect group has been one of the most exciting parts of being a fan over the past 18 months, and with Zayne Parekh, Hunter Brzustewicz, Yan Kuznetsov, Aydar Suniev and Matvei Gridin all establishing themselves in 2025/26, the future is looking bright. Much of that future exists beyond the professional level however, with the likes of Cole Reschny, Cullen Potter and Andrew Basha making their impacts known at the NCAA and CHL level.

The one that outperformed them all in 2025/26 though was Quinnipiac's Ethan Wyttenbach, who was the No. 144 overall pick for the Flames back in the 2025 NHL Draft, a player that many didn't believe could make an impact at the college level this early. Much to everyone's surprise, he hit the ground running, tallying an incredible 25 goals and 59 points in 40 games played, numbers that saw him lead the NCAA in points, despite compeition from the likes of Gavin McKenna, Porter Martone, James Hagens and Michael Hage.

At 5-foot-10, Wyttenbach's potential at the next level is unclear, but if he can continue this production next season, he'll no doubt be a positive for the organization, with potential to be a good to very good middle-six winger at the NHL level.
