The Calgary Flames have already selected six players in the 2026 NHL Draft, but at No. 100 overall, the team are back on the clock as they look to add to what is one of the best prospect groups in the entire National Hockey League.
There's been some picks thus far in the draft that have been questionable, but at No. 100, the team have swung for upside, taking 20-year-old centre Egor Barabanov out of the Ontario Hockey League.
At 100th overall, #Flames select C Egor Barabanov from OHL Saginaw.

Left shot, 20 years old. 28 goals and 91 points in 68 games this past season.
He has been passed over in the Draft twice, but in 2025/26 he took a major leap, posting 28 goals and 91 points in 68 games played after two underwhelming seasons in the USHL. Like most picks this year for Calgary, he has good size at 6-foot-0, 180 pounds, and in his case, he may simply be a late bloomer, as he looked like a dominant performer with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.
It's unclear what his future and potential could be with the Flame,s but with good size and a significant leap this past season, he has shown the ability to score goals and create as a playmaker too, and given that he plays the Flames biggest position of need, it's a worthwhile risk for the team.
Simply put, it's always going to be hard at No. 100 overall to pass on a player that posted 91 points in the OHL last season, and with the team stacking centres like Reschny, Potter, Hextall, Castagna and others, he will fit in nicely and could make the jump to the AHL next season.
