Ever since he took over as Head Coach of the Calgary Flames, Ryan Huska has been an incredibly polarizing topic among the fan base, with some sympathizing with the role he plays while others are critical of the constant line shuffling and focus on veteran players.
However, when the reigns came off following the trade deadline, we saw a much more upbeat, free style played on the ice from the Flames young players, as Huska showed he was clearly capable of adapting to what his roster had to offer. Clearly, there's others that see his potential as a coach as well, as he has officially been named to Team Canada's coaching staff ahead of the 2026 IIHF Men's World Championships.

Huska joins DJ Smith and Spencer Carbery as top assistants under Misha Donskov for the tournament, and given how young he is into his Head Coach career in the NHL, this will provide him a great opportunity to get high level experience.
Sure, Huska may never be the long-term answer behind the bench for the Calgary Flames, but clearly there are people taking notice around the NHL of his abilities, and if he continues to prioritize the future of the organization with the Flame young core, that may change very, very quickly.
