The Calgary Flames 2025/26 season is all but over, with two final matchups against the Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings set to take place on Tuesday and Thursday, with plenty still at stake for Calgary.

With one final recall remaining on the season, many had hoped to see a young, up-and-coming player from the American Hockey League, and in the hours before their third matchup against Colorado in nine days, we got out answer.

According to the team, 24-year old Rory Kerins has been recalled, with the expectation that he is in the lineup for the final two games of the regular season, with the team hoping he can continue showing flashes of a future NHLer in that time.

Originally drafted in the 6th round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Kerins is enjoying another stellar season with the Calgary Wranglers, tallying 22 goals and 54 points in 55 games played, with fans calling for him to get another opportunity at the NHL level.

While he may be undersized at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, he has shown some positives in the NHL in limited opportunities, posting 4 assists in 5 games played in 2024/25. In 2025/26, he's gotten the chance to appear in two games, going pointless in that time with a -1 differential, and now, he will get another limited opportunity to show his potential for the future.

In recent times, the Flames have turned to Tyson Gross, Aydar Suniev and other young names, and given how much these final two games could mean to a young player like Kerins, it will be a chance for him to show that he can be a regular in the NHL moving forward.
