Keaton Verhoeff: Available in 6 mock drafts, selected in 2

Before this past season, Keaton Verhoeff was seen as a top prospect heading into the 2026 NHL Draft, but as of right now, he's been mocked to go anywhere from No. 2 overall to No. 10 following his freshman season at North Dakota. Given his 6-foot-4, 204 pound frame, it's no wonder people see him as a future star in the NHL, and while he plays at a position the Flames currently have sorted, that type of talent is tough to pass up.

In these mock drafts however, that's just what the Flames have done, as he was selected twice despite being available 6 times, with those mock drafts seeing the Flames go for a position of need (LHD or C), rather than Verhoeff. With his connection to Cole Reschny and Abram Wiebe, drafting Verhoeff would make sense following his 20 point season and NDU, and while it would have been a perfect pick a year ago, given the development of Zayne Parekh and Hunter Brzustewicz, it may not be the pick for Calgary here.
