Carson Carels: Available in 10 mock drafts, selected in 7
Since the moment the Calgary Flames moved down to the No. 6 selection in the 2026 NHL Draft, Carson Carels has been the name on the lips of all in Calgary, and on paper, it's an absolutely perfect fit.
Not only does Carels play a major position of need on the left side of the blue line, but he's also got a fantastic relationship with young Flames star Zayne Parekh, as the two spent plenty of time together at the 2026 World Juniors. Alone, that's not a reason to draft Carels, but that comes from the physical tools and the production over the past year with the Prince George Cougars.
In 58 regular season games, Carels tallied 20 goals and 73 points, helping the Cougars into the WHL Playoffs on the back of his elite two-way play. Out of the 15 mock drafts, Carels was available in 10 of them, and if he remains available when No. 6 is on the clock, this is the most likely pick for Craig Conroy and the Flames.
