The biggest name for Flames fans to watch in Europe is Theo Stockselius, the former second-round pick that many believe will play a top-line role for Sweden later this year at the World Juniors tournament in Alberta. This year, he's taking the full-time leap to the SHL with Djurgardens, and while he's started slow with just one assist across four games played, he adjusted well in 2025/26, and the hope is that his game can take another leap in 2026/27.

Then, there's Alan Shaikhlislamov, a second-round pick of the Flames in 2026 who has caught fire early in the year with UFA Tolpar in the MHL, netting 6 goals in just 8 games played. That's the ability the Flames drafted him for, as he was seen as one of the best goalscorers beyond the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft, and while some criticized them for taking him so high, it was a swing well worth it for Calgary, with the early signs being very promising.

Beyond that, there's been a few solid performers to keep an eye on, but for the rest of the players in Europe, it's going to be an uphill battle to make it to the National Hockey League with the Flames.
