Europe
The standout Flames prospect of the year thus far has been Alan Shaikhlislamov, who was a surprise pick for the Flames in the second-round in 2026, and through 12 games in the MHL, he's shown the exact traits that the organization hoped when they acquired him.
Through his first 12 games, Shaikhlislamov has been unstoppable for UFA Tolpar, and while the team around him have struggled, the talented forward continues producing, posting 9 goals and 17 points in that time. Freshly 18, Shaikhlislamov has plenty of time to continue developing, and given the Flames are expected to let him develop in Europe for quite some time, they may have a genuine star on their hands when he eventually makes the jump to North America.

Elsewhere in Russia, former seventh-round pick Yan Matveiko is off to a slow start, with 1 goal and 4 points across 14 games combined between the VHL and the MHL, with the talented forward a long-shot to make the NHL one day.
In Sweden however, one of the Flames more intriguing prospects Theo Stockselius had his best game of the campaign this past week, tallying two assists for Djurgardens IF in the Swedish Hockey League, taking his tally up to 3 assists in 8 games this year.

One through hard work, the other a beautiful setup to finish off a lovely passing play 👀#Flames pic.twitter.com/4Dvn30MGCY
It's not been a perfect start, but given that he's just 19 and is playing in a very tough league, the signs of genuine promise are there for the former second-round pick, and with the World Juniors upcoming, this experience bodes well for him playing a key role for Sweden in that tournament.
