Canadian Hockey League

Over in the OHL, there's just one Calgary Flames prospect in 2026 fifth-round pick Simon Katolicky, and through nine games, he's been very productive with the Sarnia Sting, posting 3 goals and 5 points in 9 games played, with a +3 differential in that time.

Sure, the production doesn't jump out at someone right away, but given where he was taken, the fact that he'll play top line minutes in the OHL this season is a great sign, and given his size, 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, he could impact the game for Calgary down the line.

The Western Hockey League is where the rest of the Flames CHL prospects are, and unsurprisingly, the biggest standout of all has been Spokane Chiefs captain Chase Harrington, and while much was made of his size and toughness in the draft, he's showing a different side of his game early in 2026/27.

This highlight reel goal was just one of the impressive moves made by Harrington this season, and after a career high 57 points in 61 games a year ago, he's currently sitting at 3 goals and 8 points in six games played alongside a +8 differential. Given the leadership traits that come along with Harrington, he's quickly blossoming into someone that may reach the NHL sooner, rather than later, and given the size (6-foot-0, 200 pounds), he's a name to keep a very close eye on.

The other big standout in the WHL has been Joe Iginla, and while the pick was widely criticized given his lack of PPG or above production, he's showing the tools that could make him a great piece in Calgary for years to come.

He was a standout player this past week with two goals in one game, taking his season tally to 3 goals, 6 points across 8 games played, and with a +1 differential, he's clearly effecting the game in different ways.

Beyond that, the rest of the WHL talent for Calgary have been playing well, with Mace'o Phillips (7GP, 1G, 2A, 3P, +7), Bode Laylin (7GP, 1G, 2A, 3P, -1) and Jakob Leander (7GP, 0G, 2A, 2P, +0) all off to steady starts in 2026/27.
