This is where fans of the Calgary Flames will find most joy in 2026/27, and with the season beginning this past week, there's already been so much to talk about. Last year, the Flames biggest standout was college hockey's top scorer in Ethan Wyttenbach, and to no one's surprise, the Quinnipiac star is at it again.

So much so that the star winger has been named ECAC forward of the week, with 3 goals and 8 points in just four games, showing that he's ready to take another huge leap this season, with this goal being a major highlight early in the year.

The team to watch for Calgary however is North Dakota, featuring captain Cole Reschny, who has been off to a great start this year, both showing his leadership skills and just how far his 200ft game has come in the last 18 months. In two games, Reschny already has two goals and 3 points, with the +2 differential showing just what a difference maker he's been.

Alongside him is 18-year-old Carson Carels, and while he's yet to register a point in two games played, he's still adjusting to the next level, but given that he's stood out physically, it's a matter of time until he makes an impression.
Then, there's Michigan State with two other Flames prospect, and perhaps the surprise of the first week in center Jack Hextall, with the 2026 first-round pick tallying 2 goals and 4 points through his first two games played.

Then there's transfer Cullen Potter, who had 26 points in 24 games played last season, and early in the year, he's been on a line with Hextall, with one goal and two points through his first two games of the year.
Cullen Potter’s first goal as a Spartan comes on the 5-on-3, sniping a shot clean past Auyeng-Ashton.

Perhaps the most under-the-radar prospect in the NCAA this year is Egor Barabanov, the 2026 fourth-round draft pick, and in four games with UMass early in the year, he's tallied 2 goals and 3 points. Those are the standouts, but beyond them, there's been some players producing well;
Henry Mews - 4GP, 0G, 2A, 2P, +0
Trevor Hoskin - 2GP, 1G, 0A, 1P, -3
Luka Misa - 2GP, 0G, 1A, 1P, -2
Cade Littler - 4GP, 0G, 1A, 1P, -8
Eric Jamieson - 2GP, 0G, 0G, 0P, +0
Jaden Lipinski - 3GP, 0G, 0A, 0P, +0
Max Curran - 4GP, 0G, 0A, 0P, -1
Beyond that group, we've got second-round pick Tobias Trejbal in net for UMass, and in one game, he's got a GAA of 5.00 alongside a save percentage of .850, with the hopes that the freshman can improve moving forward.
