NCAA
The most hope Flames fans had this year was of their prospects in the NCAA, and early in the year, most of them have performed as well, if not better than most expected heading into the 2026/27 campaign.
Unsurprisingly, it's Ethan Wyttenbach that fans are most excited about, and after a great start, the Quinnipiac forward had a much, much slower week, appearing in just one game and going scoreless. Despite that, he's still close to 2PPG for Quinnipiac this season, and given how many highlights he's already made, the excitement is building arond the offensive star. Wyttenbach: 6GP, 4G, 7A, 11P.
There's also Cole Reschny, who tallied 35 points in 36 games a year ago as a freshman at North Dakota, and this season, he was named captain and has clearly taken a leap in his game. That leap is not only as a leader but in all phases of his game, as he has 4 goals in just 6 games played, one short of his mark from 35 a year ago. The passing has improved as well, with 4 assists in those 6 games, and as the team continue to grow together, there's a chance we see him put together a monster year.
One player that hasn't stepped up like fans hoped is Carson Carels, but that's simply on the scoresheet, as he has been much better than the numbers show, using his speed and physicality to play a key role on NDU's blue line. With 4 assists in 6 games, Carels is starting to produce well, adding two assists in two games this past week, and given how well he's adjusted defensively, he's continuing to grow at a very promising pace.

In net, the Flames have got mixed results from their two goaltenders, but after a tough start, things are looking much, much more promising for Tobias Trejbal and Yegor Yegorov.
